Here at The Scent Coven we have made a commitment from the very beginning to support, showcase and promote small businesses within our space that we feel the Coven community will benefit from & of course, be interested in!
This months Small Business Shoutout goes to a really unique, Etsy shop called Lumostrolls run by Chloe. I stumbled across this business on Instagram after some mutual customers in our network had shared her gorgeous little creations. As a 90's kid, I was immediately hooked! Trolls were all the rage when I was a kid, so add the nostalgia of a troll, to crystals and gems and you got a winner in my eyes! I wanted to know a little more about Chloe's background, just how DOES someone come up with something like this?
Lumostrolls creator Chloe says: "I got inspired from a young age to create the weird and wonderful, my mum has always been my biggest inspiration in terms of crafts. We would always hand make Birthday and Christmas cards, jewellery etc just for fun. My GSCE art teacher also had a huge impact on me, I started to find out exactly what I loved to do which was to create really unique and odd pieces of art." I can honestly say, I have never come across another Lumostrolls-esque business before and I just admire how a young mind like Chloe's, can create something totally unique, cute and bank on the customisability and collect-ability of something like this. Genius!
I was interested to know where the brand name came from and I was definitely not disappointed in that either, "The word Lumos actually comes from the Latin word Lumen which means ‘light’ or ‘lamp’. In Harry Potter, Lumos is also the spell which creates a light on the end of wands as if it were a torch, I loved the idea of signing all my Thank you cards with ‘Love and Lumos’ basically meaning: Love and Light". I really do enjoy the personal aspect of small, indie creative business. The way customers are treated, adored, thanked and personally written to. Packaging, the experience and a genuine, heartfelt thank you are really important pieces of the consumer puzzle in my eyes and the fact Chloe had considered her sign off before even deciding her brand, says an awful lot.
It is clear to see that Lumostrolls is carving out a gorgeous, bubblegum universe for itself and I sincerely look forward to seeing where Chloe takes the brand next. Letting our imaginations run wild is really why we are all here and it is so good to see that Lumostrolls clearly has a bright, Lumen-ous future ahead.
